Personal Statement

My laboratory carries out ethological-behavioral, psychophysical, neurophysiological, and computational studies of perception and action as guided by echolocation (biosonar) in bats.  The goal of the research is to understand how the mechanisms of echo reception and processing in bats lead to the creation of perceived images of the bat’s surroundings, and how these perceptions are integrated into control of flight and orientation within the spatial scene.
